Frequently Asked Questions
But if you can't find the answer here?

Where Do I Park?
Our front lot has limited parking, but we have an additional lot behind our building. There is a second entrance and sidewalk for this parking lot, so no need to walk around! See both highlighted in Green on the map!
The lot next door to us is a GVSU lot. t may be convenient for guests who already have the proper GVSU parking pass, but please be advised if you do not. This lot is highlighted in Blue on the map.
**Please note: Borough parking is reserved for current customers and is monitored for booting and towing 24/7. This helps us keep spaces available for everyone visiting us

Can you accommodate my dietary need?
Almost always, yes.
Our kitchen is small, but we offer plenty of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, celiac-conscious, and other allergen-friendly and options. Please let our team know about any allergy before ordering so we can walk you through what will work best.
A quick note: We process a high volume of peanuts and eggs in our kitchen. We will always take every precaution available to us, but we cannot guarantee zero cross-contact—especially for severe allergies.

Can I bring in outside food or drinks?
Almost never, no.
Unless we are unable to safely accommodate an allergy or dietary restriction—or you are an infant who has not quite reached smash-burger enjoying age—we do not allow outside food or beverages.
Outside alcohol is never permitted.
Can I study or work at The Borough?
Absolutely.
We have Wi-Fi, outlets, plenty of coffee, and we are happy to have you here. We simply ask that you make a purchase, keep your belongings contained, and stay aware of the space during busy periods so other guests can find a seat too.
Do you take reservations?
Sorry, but no.
We are a counter-service café, and all tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
We will still bring your food to the table and help with anything else you need. When you are finished, simply drop your trays at the station near the door.
Are you a part of GVSU or Dining Dollars?
Nope!
The Borough is locally & woman owned. We love being a part of the Grand Valley Community and the surrounding Hudsonville communities just as much, but we are not affiliated with GVSU and cannot accept Dining Dollars.
Are you dog friendly?
Our patio is dog friendly as long as your dog is other dog and people friendly:)
Our pup cups are always free!
Service Animals are always welcome.
Do I have to make a purchase to use the space?
Yes, please.
We love being a place where people can study, meet, work, and spend time together, but we are still a restaurant and small business. Food and drink sales are what allow us to keep the space open, staffed, and welcoming, so we ask everyone using our seating to support the business with a purchase.
Can we interview someone on staff for a class project?
Thanks for thinking of The Borough for your project! We receive a large number of requests from film, marketing, business, and other classes each semester. We are happy to help when our schedule allows, but unfortunately cannot accommodate every group.
Please reach out through our contact form as early as possible and include:
- Your full list of interview questions
- A few dates and times your group is available
- Any filming, photography, or space requirements
Interviews are generally scheduled Monday through Thursday between 8:30–11:00 a.m. or 2:00–5:00 p.m. Please wait for confirmation before arriving.
